De Oranjecamping is a professional camping concept for supporters of the Dutch national football team. This unique gathering of enthusiastic fans is coming to South Africa to paint the rainbow nation orange!
Whenever he Dutch national squad qualifies or either FIFA world Cup of UEFA European cup, De Oranjecamping and its visitors follow. The campsite has drawn international media attention during EURO2004 in Portugal, the FIFA WC 2206 in Germany and EURO2008 in Austria-Switzerland. And currently De Oranjecamping is on the doorstep to move to South Africa for the World Cup 2010.
De Oranjecamping in South Africa during the 2010 FIFA World Cup
Nearly 1000 Dutch fans will experience the 2010 FIFA World Cup as part of De Oranjecamping. Fans follow the Dutch national football team and camp near the host city. They will travel in motor homes, 4×4 vehicles, overlander safari trucks and private cars. The three base camps are based in Pretoria, Durban and Paarl and most of the guests will visit the camp nearby Kruger National Park (Phalaborwa) to be able to experience the wild life. De Oranjecamping will be the world’s largest football fan camp.
One thing is for sure, every night a big party takes place in the marquee. Dutch artists fly from the Netherlands to perform and Heineken is providing the typical Dutch draft beers. De Oranjecamping guests are famous for their marches. Either they will march from the caravan park to the nearest train station or bus pickup place, or march from the city centre to the stadium. A world famous orange double-decker bus will lead the way for Dutch fans. All host cities and host municipalities have given their approval an provided assistance to enable the typical Dutch way of warming up before the matches. De Oranjecamping is very grateful for a warm South African welcome and this support.
In between matches the convoy will travel from city to city. 16 June is a day to diarise. This will be the only day all Oranjecamping guests will travel together in one orange convoy, which in essence will be a kilometres long stretch of orange vehicles. Time of departure is 9:00 from Pretoria to Durban.
Last but not least, De Orangecamping is committed to contribute towards the 2010 legacy. It has engaged with different social development projects and all guests are invited to participate in different football community projects and tournaments. Together with its sponsor Pringles, funds will be raised for a Soccertainer, a container which will be used as a community club house. The Soccertainer will be launched in Paarl, date and time to be confirmed.
