Our 2015 Adventure

We’re heading off from Franschhoek and our first stop will be the Robertson Wine Valley en route to Johannesburg via Durban and Lesotho, with detours all along the way.

It’s all about meeting people who make a difference, visiting destinations and attractions, taking many photographs and writing lots of stories.

We’d like to hear about the places you’d like to learn more about, about people you think we should meet en route.  We’d be grateful for any suggestions.

Just add them in the comment box below.

We’ll be trying to limit daily hops to less than 200km a day and we’ll stay over in some towns for a couple of days.

The other part of the “we” is Beezus, who’s become quite an intrepid traveller and follows in the footsteps of Akela and Kenya, the wolf and staffie who so many people got to meet in Travels with Akela.  You can read about Beezus in “About Beezus” above.

  1. Next stop after the Garden Route is the Tsitsikamma, and then the Kouga Region, which lies between the mountains and the sea, from the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Heritage Site to Oyster Bay, St Francis, Cape St Francis and Jeffreys Bay – you can’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a canal cruise, calamari tasting, visit to a penguin rehab facility, beach horse ride or what about a 30 minute surf lesson – or the ultimate 4×4 experience, birding or kayaking on the Gamtoos River in the Baviaans… Contact the Kouga Tourism Routes team on 0738250835!

  2. If you are in the Robertson Wine Valley there is lots to see but maybe you need a quite peaceful place to stay. De Bos Guest Farm has lovely rustic (basic) accommodation from camping to en-suite rooms, backpackers and bungalows. We are pet friendly so Beezus is very welcome. With all the Pecan Nut Trees, Oak trees and Kerrie Wilgers the heat of the day never seems too bad.

We hope to welcome you in our beautiful town Montagu.

  3. It would be wonderful if you could come visit us here at ArendsRus Country Lodge. We are just outside George:)

  4. Hope all goes well. Do call in at Esona Boutique Wine between Robertson and Bonnievale on R317. Enjoy the deli foods while you sip wine overlooking the vineyards. Take a peep at our underground ‘kuip’ – fermentation tanks. Michelle and team will be thrilled to welcome you..
